Job overview
We are looking for a passionate, proactive consultant colleague who will provide dynamic leadership to the service and the borough as a whole to make it fit for the 21st century.
Main duties of the job
The consultant will work in a well-established 15 bedded adult female acute adult inpatient unit - Iris Ward and will have supervision responsibilities to CT1-3 trainee or FY2 / GP trainee.
The post holder will lead a multidisciplinary team in managing the acute care patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
In line with New Ways of Working, the post holder will provide a consultative, supervisory and supportive role to the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will take an active part in the clinical work of the team; the majority of clinical work is ward based but service users may also be seen at home, as required. Clinical work also includes assessment, report writing and attendance at Mental Health Act review tribunals. The post holder will also be supported, where appropriate, to develop a special interest in a clinical area, which meets the Trust objectives. The consultant will have RC responsibility for all patients on the ward detained under the Mental Health Act.

- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
Eligibility
Essential criteria
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
- Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
- Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
Transport
Essential criteria
- The role will involve regular travel across multiple sites in the Trust catchment area. Therefore, the post holder must be able to meet the travel requirements of this post. Please indicate on your application how you meet this requirement.
Clinical skills, knowledge, experience

- Excellent knowledge in specialty
- Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
