An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Warrington Learning Disability Community Team for an experienced and knowledgeable Advanced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team. The post offers a great diverse set of opportunities to work within a team that provides input to adults with a learning disability. The team also works collaboratively with a number of agencies and providers working with adults with learning disabilities  in their own homes and/or a variety of community based settings.

The role consists of communication, voice and dysphagia. The scope and variety within the role is interesting, and includes working alongside other Speech and Language Therapists as well as wider multidisciplinary professionals within the team including Psychology, Nursing, Consultant Psychiatrist, Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist.

The service has close links with our peer SLT colleagues within our organization and includes protected time for you to engage within

  • Pan Borough Speech and Language Network
  • Dysphagia and Communication Clinical excellence Network
  • Learning disability clinical network

 

The successful candidate will have access to bi-monthly managerial supervision from the team manager and two weekly caseload supervision, waiting list management and allocations with your Peer speech and language therapists and assistants.

 

We are also committed to supporting personal and professional development and you will be offered a yearly Personal development review.

The successful applicant will be a confident practitioner who has the flexibility to meet the demands of a busy service and is dysphagia competent. The role will also include working with adults with complex physical health needs, complex behaviours utilising Positive Behavioural support and/or mental health needs alongside their learning disability. Experience of working within Learning disabilities is desirable.

Our core operational Hours are between 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday you must be able to be flexible with your working patterns to meet the needs of the service.

The post holder will also demonstrate an attitude which respects and values service users’ choice and works alongside them and their carer’s to ensure they are at the centre of care planning.

This post is subject to an enhanced check with adults barred list Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check.  Successful candidates will either have a valid DBS check with the Trust or will be required to pay for the cost of the DBS Disclosure which is £47.50 for an enhanced disclosure and £29.50 for a standard disclosure, the cost of which will be deducted from first salary.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
